Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job description:

• Lead the mechanical design and engineering efforts for solar energy projects, encompassing solar panel mounting structures, tracking systems, thermal management, and related equipment
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical engineering elements with the overall project plan, including permitting, environmental considerations, and construction activities
• Develop detailed mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and simulations that adhere to relevant codes and standards
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and local stakeholders to secure necessary permits and approvals for site development
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their growth and knowledge
• Perform engineering analyses, such as stress, thermal, and wind load calculations, to validate the integrity of mechanical systems.
• Manage the implementation and commissioning of mechanical systems, collaborating closely with construction and operations teams
• Conduct thorough feasibility assessments and provide technical guidance during the project development phase
• Participate in site visits and inspections to assess mechanical infrastructure and ensure compliance with design specifications
• Support projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operations

Job Requiremenr

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus
• Professional Engineer (PE) licence required
• 8 - 10 years of experience with a proven track record of successfully designing and overseeing the implementation of mechanical systems for solar projects
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for mechanical design and modelling
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) for analysing mechanical systems
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, material selection, and thermal management in solar installations
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively
• Solid knowledge of relevant codes and standards for mechanical engineering
• Fluency in English & Malay; Mandarin proficiency is advantageous
